Ayer is a condensed display face designed by Miguel Reyes and published through Commercial Type in 2019. The typeface was created for fashion magazine W and comes in a wide variety of styles: Ayer Deck has the lowest amount of contrast and works best for body text; Ayer (shown in the specimen) has higher contrast and works best at larger sizes; Ayer Poster has the highest amount of contrast and is meant to be used at large poster sizes; Ayer Poster Cursive is described as a “chaotically beautiful cursive”; Ayer Poster Angular features razor-sharp angles; and Ayer Poster Blackletter is a non-traditional take on the blackletter genre.
