Grad

Grad is a serif typeface originally designed by Phil Martin and later updated by Mark Simonson. Phil Martin based the design off of Century Schoolbook but set out to give it a more contemporary look. Grad was originally created as a bitmap font which didn’t make it very usable for modern typesetting purposes. In 2004, Mark Simonson recreated the typeface from the ground up in a digital version with a few new added flourishes. Grad isn’t nearly as popular as other typefaces by Mark Simonson such as Proxima Nova, however I think it’s a wonderful typeface and I would love to see it used more on the web.
