Vollkorn is an open-source serif typeface designed by German designer Friedrich Althausen. It was originally released in 2006 and later added as one of the first fonts on Google Fonts in 2010. Vollkorn was designed as a text face but I think a lot of its unique character really shines in the heavier weights where it would work well as a display face.
