Albertus is a typeface designed by Berthold Wolpe and released through Monotype in 1936. Wolpe studied as a metal engraver and was commissioned by Stanley Morison to create a typeface based on his engraved lettering. The name comes from Albertus Magnus, a thirteenth-century German philosopher. Albertus is the brand font for the The Hobbit movies, used in posters and the credits.
