Fraktur

Fraktur is a style of blackletter typeface that came about in the early sixteenth century. There are several typefaces that simply go by the name Fraktur as well. Blackletter typefaces saw widespread use in German-speaking countries up until the early twentieth century but have since fallen out of favor, although it’s still common for newspapers to use blackletter faces on their nameplates.
