Antique Olive is a sans-serif typeface designed by French type designer Roger Excoffon in 1962. The typeface is unique in that it features “reverse” contrast—the strokes are heavier on the top and bottom and lighter on the sides, which is the opposite of most typefaces. Although the uppercase letter O is shaped like an olive, Antique Olive was actually named after the foundry it was created for, Fonderie Olive. The design definitely has a dated feel to it but it could be poised for a comeback like many other 1970s-evoking fonts.
