FF Quadraat is a serif typeface designed by Fred Smeijers. It was one of the first typefaces to be released by FontFont, joining their collection way back in 1992. Smeijers set out to design a typeface that was “as economical as Times” and “as balanced as Plantin.” In 2011, Fred Smeijers completely reworked the FF Quadraat family—which now included a sans-serif companion family—redrawing numerous characters and adding additional weights.
