Quarto is an Old Style serif typeface released by Hoefler & Co. in 2014. The design was inspired by a single roman alphabet from 16h century Flemish punchcutter Hendrik van den Keere. There were no bold or italic styles of Van Den Keere’s design, so Quarto’s five weights with matching italics are an interpretation and exploration of the original design. Due to its high contrast and delicate features, Quarto is intended for use at size 16 point and above.
