ITC Garamond is an interpretation of Garamond designed in 1975 by Tony Stan. It was originally conceived as a display face and thus features unusually wide proportions and a taller x-height compared to the more typical Garamond-inspired book faces. Its improper use as a text face has led to some designers professing their hatred for the typeface. A modified version of ITC Garamond was used to create Apple Garamond, Apple’s corporate face from 1984 to 2002.
