Venus is a grotesque that dates all the way back to 1907, making it one of the oldest sans-serif typefaces I’ve featured on Typewolf. Early sans-serifs like this tend to look like serif typefaces with the serifs hacked off. Notice how the terminals on the a and s are sheared off at a sharp angle. Venus is also considered a high-waisted design due to the high crossbar noticeable on the uppercase letters such as the H and B. If you are sick of Helvetica, then Venus is about as far from Helvetica as you can get for the grotesque genre.
